World's Best Cat Litter

We gots a chance to try out World's Best Cat Litter! They have a new look for their packaging and website, with the same great cat litter recipe.

Here is what we thought about it.

Mom's Take: We tried out two big bags of the litter. I know, from talking with all of you around the cat blogosphere and from asking the vet about it, that cats can be...stubborn about things like this. So we took the first bag of cat litte, and gradually, over time, mixed it with their usual brand. We then went on to just completely using World's Best Cat Litter with the second bag.

World's Best Cat Litter is unlike any other litter I've seen. It's much finer, more like soft flakes than granules, and made from whole kernel corn, so it is probably also the greenest, in terms of the environment, cat litter on the market today as well. It is 100% biodegradable and microporous, so it absorbs odor really well. I do know that when the kitties would, well, poo, in the litter box, there was virtually no odor.

Unfortunately, we had a LOT of odor when the cats urinated.

This is because they WOULD NOT PEE in the litter box once we had the World's Best Cat Litter in it!

Instead, they sprayed all over the back, screened-in porch. The smell of ammonia was just horrible when we realized what was going on! First, we thought maybe the outdoor cats that we see slinking around the screen sometimes, taunting the Cheezits and Fancy, were to blame, but it became obvious that no, it was our usually perfectly-litterbox-trained kitties who were peeing under the porch benches, tables, chairs...what a mess!

We had to power wash the entire porch, and we went back to Fresh Step, which was our litter of choice before World's Best Cat Litter.

I cannot explain this, but cats just have their preferences, and mine didn't think, for some reason, that World's Best Cat Litter was for peeing on. They weren't going to do it. Period. Even though, as I said they did poop in the box, and there was no odor in the litter box room from that, which was awesome.

I DO think the litter is much better for the environment and certainly much better about stopping odor than a lot of other litter out there, BUT only (obviously) if your cats will use it! So I think that if you started a kitty from scratch (so to speak) on the World's Best Cat Litter, and they had not already been used to another brand, you would be very happy.

World's Best Cat Litter IS pricier than the litters you buy in your local store, but as I said it is made from corn and 100% biodegradable, so you are helping the planet out!

Fancy and the Cheezits give their take: We didn't give Mom permission to change our litter! We likes the old litter just fine. Now we got our old litter back. We pooped in the box, but we sprayed the porch with pee until Mom listened to us!
We were sent three bags of World's Best Cat Litter (another one just came in the mail the other day!) to help us with our review. Mom used two, and we wouldn't go for it, so she will donate the third bag to the local shelter.

We're BAAAAAACK!

Did you miss us? Mom's all done wif dis summer vacation stuff, young beans are back in school, now it's our turn again!
Which meant we had to go to the V.E.T. the other day.

I did NOT like dat at ALL!

But I was furry smart. *preening*

Okay, I knows you can't see me, because I am cleverly hiding, but I'm behind da scale.

Colby did not like da V.E.T. either. He tried to climb up the metal fing dat's used for weighing big fat goggies and woofers and he got his claws stuck and Mom had to get him down!

So, we gots out claws trimmed, too.

You know what, though? Fancy didn't mind the V.E.T. at all!

Oh, she didn't like riding in da big van, or being in a carrier (she had to share with Colby, but I got mah own because I'm so floofy).

Dis is me again, being floofy in mah carrier.

But Fancy didn't mind da V.E.T once we got dere. She walked all around da V.E.T. office. Here's a pikshur of Colby watching her. He liked to sit on da scale, when he wasn't huddling wif me in dah corner.

Fancy even--you won't BELIEVE this--*purred* at the V.E.T.!!! And she gave Mom head butts while we were dere, too.

Colby says she's a traitor cat.

But you know what? I fink she's just really brave.

We keep seeing these woofers all over the TV--dey gets to walk around unleashed all the time, and beans take pikshurs of them. They even dress up in funny clothes like beans do!

Mom says dey have dere own movie where dey get into all kinds of adventures, and little beans seem to like it.

Dat's sweet.

Why don't we have a movie deal? We're cuter than dese woofers are!

We could call it, "Florida Furries"! We could invite Daisy, and the Island Cats, and all the Florida kittehs.

Think we could get them to pay in 'nip instead of green papers?

Thank goodness! We were calling him and calling him and then we got out the *treats* that he loves in the plastic bottle, and we shook the bottle as we called, and he came trotting right up like he hadn't been making us frantic all day!

COLBY IS GONE!

We are really, really worried because Colby has disappeared!

Dad fixed the hole in the screen where Houdini Colby had been escaping, and for a couple weeks now we have had no problems with escape attempts.

Last night, we let Colby out on the screened porch along with Fancy. The weather turned nice here in the last couple days, and it has been in the high seventies, going down only into the sixties at night, so the kitties have been wanting to spend a lot of time out there.

This morning, we could not find Colby. At first we thought one of the kids had let him back in along with Fancy, but they said no, and we looked for him in the house and could not find him, so back out to the screened porch we went to check--Colby had torn a new hole in the screen!
Dad, obviously, was NOT very happy about this.

Colby having escaped before, and the kids needing to go to school, I left to take them. I was sure when I came back he would be at the front door or on the windowsill, very annoyed as he had missed breakfast, and wanting to be let back in.

But he is still nowhere to be found, and now it is nearly 2:00! Cheddar is very worried about him and has been sticking close to me most of the day, purring and head butting when I call Colby and then getting worried and walking out to the edges of the porch to add his own squeaky meow to my cries.

Fancy seems unconcerned--let's hope she knows something we don't!

I'm really getting worried about Colby--even at his worst Houdini times, when he would escape from the porch, he never stayed out this long!

Fancy Friday: Baby, It's Cold Outside!

I've been doing a lot of cuddling with Colby these days. It's not so much that I *like* him or anything, it's just that it is furry cold outside!

Colby is furry good at opening doors now--unless the beans make sure they are all locked down, he will go to the door, stand up against it on two legs, pull at the lever with his paw, and then lean on it until it opens. He did this the other night when the teen bean forgot to lock the garage door after covering the plants (plants need blankies when it is cold, too!).

The only thing he, he left the door open (Colby's good at opening the doors, not so good at closing them again!).

You should have heard the Dad bean complaining when he got up in the middle of the night to find the door open and us kitties escapin'!

Okay, yeah, it WAS in the thirties, which is apparently bean talk for "ridiculously freezing cold", but still!

Oh, and you know what?

Cheddar is really enjoyin' this weather!

Yes! Cheddar, who squeaks when he sees a squirrel and runs inside the house if it chatters at him too much, is just eatin' up the cold with his big floofy fur and his big fat tummy to keep him warm. It's just not fair!

I do have it better than Colby, though. I'm ladylike and petite, but I have pretty thick fur--Colby is skinny as a rail and all sleek--his fur doesn't keep him warm at ALL!

So, see, when I cuddle up with him, I'm really doing him a favor!

That's right.

Oh Hai! It's me, Cheddar.

I would like to take issue wif certain kittehs *makes laser eyes at Colby* that have been...hold on, wot's dat phrase Mom told me? Here it is: "Impugning my character."

Ahem. It's true that, on occasion, my meow sounds a bit...squeaky. So much so that, in fact, the beans sometimes call it my "battle squeak." But dat does NOT mean I am a girly cat!

No, I am a big, strong, very-nearly Mancat. See, even "battle squeak" tells you so, because battle means fightin', right? And girls don't fight--oh, wait a minute.

Fancy fights.

Hmm.

I killed a bird today.

You would think the beans would be proud of me.

I'm not even a full mancat, and I killed it all by myself!

I Houdini'ed my way out of my collar and snuck right up on it.

The little bird was eating some fruit that the littlest bean spilled and Mom put out on the grass so it wouldn't go to waste.

It didn't even hear me coming.

It was furry quick--I didn't play with it or nuthin'.

And I started meowing, so they would all come and see what a good hunter I'd been.

The littlest bean heard me, and when he came I showed him where the little bird was.

They should be proud of me!

So...why is efurryone actin' so sad around here?

So, furriends, it's me, Colby. I needs ur help!

I have been *looks around furtively* sneakin' outside. How? I'm glad you asked.

Mom and Dad have a hole in the screened-in porch place!

I snuck out, and Mom brought me back in, and found the hole and covered it up.

Now, as you know, I am furry smart *preens*. So, even though they covered up the hole, I found a way out, by pushin' the covering-up stuff aside.

And Mom brought me back in, all grumblin', and made it harder, but I kept finding ways out.
So they put heavier stuff in front of the hole, and on the outside where the hole was, too, and it was LOT harder, but I ran all the way across the porch and did a body-slam into the heavy stuff, and pushed it away, too. 'Cause I'm smart AND strong.

But *sigh*, Mom Saw me.

And when they brought ME back in, Fancy, who is pretty smart, too, sneaked out!

At night.

And you know what? Beans don't see so good at night. They go stumblin' around. Isn't that weird?

They searched for Fancy lots and got scared, because this is her new home and Mom worried she would get lost and not know her way back. But Fancy came back, and Mom was happy.

Dad couldn't fix the hole, because he's been painting since we were getting Car Pets. And Mom and Dad wanted the door to the screened porch open when the Car Pet guys were putting in carpet, so they could move the furniture and stuff. So I could get out, but Mom and Dad got really tough, and when I did, Dad, who was getting mad because I am so smart, would put me in the little shallow pool and get my feets wet!

I did NOT like that!

I think they wanted to keep me from going out, but I just made sure I hid better so when I DID get out, they couldn't find me so well.

Mom put a collar on me wif my name and our phone number, which I hate because it has a tinkly bell thing, so I can't hunt like a Mancat.

I has all my yucky shots and stuff, so Dad says Mom should stop worrying, but Mom still does, and wants the porch fixed because she thinks I'll get eaten by a Woofy or sumfin'.

She's like that.

So, all this week, it's been me tryin' to be sneaky and get out, and Mom watching me like a hawk and not letting me have any fun.

But then! Mom got sneaky! Yes, Mom. Moms aren't supposed to be sneaky!

You know what she did? She let me go out on the porch again, BUT she put some strange thing called a PetCam around my neck! Only for a little while, but it got in my way when I went out (of COURSE I got out!).

I came back through the hole myself, and pretended I had been a goody -goody cat and not gone anywhere. And Mom took the Pet Cam off.

Anyway, once she took it off, I figured I was in the clear. Only the thing is...

Mom knows I went out! And, horror of horrors, she knows my bestest hiding places!

Because the PetCam TOOK INCRIMINATING PICTURES!

See, here in the first two pics, I'm pretending to be good, on the screened porch with Cheddar, who never escapes (I think he's just too skeered).

And then here I am running around, you know, hidin' in the grass. You can see our neighbor's houses and the trash cans and stuff.

So now what should I do?!

Mom knows where I hide, and she won't let me out without my collar, and I don't want to wear the Pet Cam thing around my neck because everyone will know where I go!

Help!

Beethoven's Big Break is Made for Woofie-Lovers! (But we kittehs liked it too)

Dis is Mom's review of a movie starring a woofie named Beethoven. We finks now dey need to make a kitteh movie dat stars US. Fancy could be a ninja, cause she's black, and Colby and I could be the Good Guys dat fight her. Only not really, cause she's kinda tough, and her claws are really sharp!--Cheddar.

Set to release on DVD the day after Christmas, the big mutt that's charmed dog lovers since he first hit the screen returns in Beethoven's Big Break, a new offering available exclusively on DVD from Universal Studios.

This charming flick is delightfully engaging. Animal lover though I am, I was surprised to find myself buying into it completely, and really enjoying the movie from start to finish.

Starring comedian Jonathan Silverman as stressed-out single Dad Eddie, working in Hollywood as an animal handler, Moises Arias (Rico on “Hannah Montana”) as his son Billy, and Daytime Emmy® winner Jennifer Finnigan (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) as a sweet, befuddled script writer on the new animal film who's thrown together with the duo through a series of unlikely events, Beethoven's Big Break also features the music of popular musical artists your kids will love, like the Jonas Brothers, Rhianna, High City Miles and Everlife.

The rambunctious romp sports a supporting cast parents will recognize from other favorite features, too--Rhea Perlman (“Cheers”), Joey Fatone (“Dancing with the Stars,” ‘N Sync), Stephen Tobolowsky (“Heroes”), Oscar Nunez (“The Office”), Eddie Griffin (Undercover Brother) and Cesar Millan (“The Dog Whisperer”) in his feature film debut.

Well, as I'm sure you can guess, that policy doesn't last. Though Eddie resists letting his son Billy keep adorable stray dog Beethoven and his family of puppies (who could resist these puppies?!), when the star of the animal film Eddie is working on goes missing, Beethoven jumps in with all four big paws, and Eddie is forced to accept him AND his puppies into their home ( I like the moment when his son, Billy, in a smooth maneuver, points out that Beethoven is a single dad just like Eddie. Nice move!).

Naturally, through his typically rambunctious antics and larger-than-life personality, Beethoven not only crashes into Hollywood but into Eddie’s heart as well.

Beethoven's Big Break is full of more of that over-the-top physical humor kids love, and of course Beethoven is just plain lovable as the shaggy mutt that charms a single Dad.

Featuring lots of great bonus materials, like deleted scenes and a gag reel over ten minutes long that makes me appreciate Silverman's improv (and his co-stars' patience) all the more, Beethoven's Big Break, available exclusively on DVD December 26th, is priced at just $29.98.

Merry Kris Moose to Us

Mom has been very busy and stressin' out and stuff on account of da Badderee on the Dad's big moving machine broke down TWICE when da Dad was across the country (Mom says he shoulda fixed it da first time!), and now we is getting some new carpets.

So I said to my bruvver dat I don't like da idea of new pets anywheres around--I just got used to dat Fancy cat!--but if day wanna go in the car instead of us, maybe dese carpets wouldn't be so bad.

And you know what? He says carpets are just big rugs! So dat's new stuff to scratch. Dat's much better than new strange kitties riding around in cars wif Mom!

And da Dad was movin' all da big furnitures around, and paintin' stuff, and we had to be careful and stay on da porch so our furs wouldn't get whited from the paint. (I finks Fancy would look cool wif a white stripe down her back, like a skunk, but she wasn't goin' for it.)

So, anyways, lots of dis stress stuff at our house, and den we gets a Kris Mouse card! Us! Da kitties!

Mom says SHE hasn't even gotten any Kris Moose cards yet, but we has. *preens*

Furriends is furry good for gettin' rid of stress, aren't dey?

The beans aren't sick any more, yay!

Dat means we gots a new toy, too. Mom finally put it together wif da help of da youngest bean. Here I am, checking it out.

I's also been furry busy helpin' Mom wif all her Halloween stuff.
Dis is called a pumpkin. It looks like it would be good to eat, but dis one isn't, know why? Cause it's fake! Mom says it is called a Funkin.

Mom's going to carve it into a Jack O' Lantern. This Funkin is for carvin' and keepin', instead of carvin' and throwin' away. Da real pumpkins, dey get rotten really fast down here in Florida. I smelleded it and it doesn't smell real, either.

Dat Fancy kitty has been helpin' Mom too. Turns out that Fancy is akshully pretty cool!

She play-fights wif Colby and doesn't put the bitey on him, and dat means I don't get the bitey put on ME when Colby wants to play-fight. And today, when we spilled all our food (which is NOT my fault, Colby snuck up on me and I ranned into it and it just went flyin'!), she went in an mewed at Mom until Mom came out and saw our dish was empty and fixed it all up for us. Dat was pretty smart of Fancy!

Mom says black cats are furry good for Halloween, cause some beans are Super Stitch Us, whatever dat means, and fink black cats are all spooky and bad luck!

Dat's silly, Fancy has just been good luck fur us.

Usually, dat's Colby's job but he was on da porch, climbin' the screens and gettin' snails. Dad said, "Bad cat!" at him for dat, but Colby was just tryin' to keep the house safe!

Mom says I am da cute floofy kitteh for photos and cuddlin', and Colby is the speshul attack cat for gettin' stuff like lizards, and Fancy is the emergency back-up girl kitteh dat even likes gettin' petted. cause Mom needs more girls wif all us boy kittehs around!

Oh, Hai! Dis is me, in bed. Don't worry, I'm fine. But Efurrybody else here is sick! So I'm thinkin' I might just stay here and be safe.

First it was Fancy, our new black kitteh, who had the sneezes and stuff, and then the boy beans got sick from somebody called "SKEWL." I don't know who skewl is, but he must be really bad, because efurryday the boy beans has to go away to see skewl, and when dey come back they sure are really happy to be home again and away from skewl! Plus, skewl must be furry lazy, cause the boy beans has to do his stuff all the time--they are always saying they have to do "skewl work"! And now dis skewl fellow has gots them sick!

And then even Mom got the sicks from the boy beans, and she goes, "cough cough cough," like she's going to have a hairball. Good thing Dad's home now and can help all the sick beans!

At least dat Fancy girl kitteh is all better now. We kinda sorta get along, but I'm keeping an eye on her, just in case! For instance, she knows dat the window wif the sunbeams in the afternoon is my speshul place, so she's has to find sumwhere else!

Here's her looking all better 'n stuff. She likes to sit wif the beans and get all petted, which is different from me and Colby, but maybe dat's cause she's a girl kitteh.

V.E.T stuff and dat new kitteh wot's in our house!

Yawn. Oh, Hai! I was just takin' a nap. I has some news, though!

That black kitteh's name is Fancy, and she's been real sick. Mom had to take her to the V.E.T yesterday. You wanna know sumfin' else? We had to go to the V.E.T too, and we weren't even sick! Dat's not fair. We had to get shots, but we were brave mancats and didn't make a fuss, or anyway Cheddar didn't. I howled and tried to get away from, I mean tried to attack the V.E.T people, just to give 'em what for!

Anyway, we went to the V.E.T a different day than Fancy cause we are not sick and she is. She won't eat, and Mom was worrit. So, anyways, the V.E.T. gave Fancy sub Q tane EE uz fluids (dat's like water under the skin, ewww) and gots her shots up-to-date, too, and then gave Mom a Pill Popper gun thing, 'cause even the vet couldn't get Fancy to take the icky liquid medicine stuff! Dat's a neat trick. She has to show us how she keeps her mouth closed. I want to know how she can spit pills out really far, too! Mom said some bad words the first time Fancy did that! But she got Fancy to swallow one next time, so Mom's not so sad and stressed out now.

That black Fancy kitteh sure seems to be feelin' a lot better, too. Dose liquids helped a lot. Mom put a huge-midi-fyer in her room to help her breathe through her stuffed-up nose. She still won't eat, but dat's good 'cause we get the food she doesn't want, and Mom is tryin' lots of stinky goodness stuff! Nom nom nom. Mom even tried salmon and left-over steak from the beans' trip to the restaurant. I guess Fancy just won't eat 'til she's betterer than she is now. The V.E.T said to give it a couple days and see. Fancy's drinkin' water, tho, and she purrs a lot and she even lets the beans pet her ALL the time, which is just suckin' up if you ask me.

Anyway, I fink maybe she is startin' to unnerstand dat WE are da mancats and she has to respeckt us and stuff. I chased her and stuff and she doesn't even hiss back. And she was pretty tough with the V.E.T. So, you know, she's not DAT terrible.

Oh, and Mom says THANK YOU to all the wunnerful kittehs and their Moms and Dads dat gave us advice! We are gettin' along a little better now, specially since that sock thing! We has to sleep and eat in different places, though, cause she is sick.

Fancy Wednesday

Um...hi, efurrybody. I'm Fancy. I'm the new kitty over here at the Cheezits.

I'm really not a bad kitteh, I promise! I just need a new home.

See, I had a home, and then my 'family'...well, they moved. Without me and my brother. They just left us at the shelter. *sigh* And then, my bruvver got 'dopted, but I didn't, and I was by msyelf.

But when the Cheezits' Mom saw me, she said, "You need bruvvers. I know some bruvvers dat need a sister, too!" So she took me home wif her, and I'm very grateful.

Cause I even hab a head cold right now, and by nose is stuffed ub, and I have to take the icky medicine, and I was feeling kinda down all by myself, all sick and missing my bruvver and stuff. I was really lonely. So I'm real happy to have a new home! And I been tryin' real hard to make furriends wif the Cheezits.

Except I don't think the Cheezits want me here furry much. I hasn't even growled at them, but boy have they growled and hissed at me! And Colby even swatted at me a couple times. I'm trying to keep my cool and let them know that I don't want to make trouble, but it's hard! So, if you have any advice for me and Mom and the Cheezits, dat would be great!

Oh, and I know's you are the Cheezits' furiends, but could you maybe please be my furiend, too? I could sure use some.

Oh NOES! An Intruder!

Dis is me, Cheddar. Sumfin's happened, and I don't like it one bit!

Let me get myself togedder here. Deep breath.
Okay.

So, here's what's going on. Mom went to take the check for the Pet Rescue Raffle fundraiser you all helped us with to the shelter.

We raiseded $151.82 green papers for the shelter, btw. Is dat good? Well, Mom says every little bit helps, and the shelter was furry glad to get the green papers! She says dey are furry happy wif us.

So, anyway, she came back, of course, and she had a big box o'sumfin.

With airholes.

And den she took the big box o'sumfin out on the screened porch.

And you know what I fink? I fink it must have been a cat in the box!

Cause now dere's a strange cat out there! She's all black, with green eyes. And she's all growed up, too, older dan me and Colby.

She's kinda pretty, actually--but she is ON MY PORCH!

Dis is capital-N Not good, furiends! What should we do?

Colby is just curious 'bout her, looking out the window, but I am scareded!

Our Furriends are What Makes the Cat Blogosphere so Speshul

We has some furry wonderful furriends! While we was working on the raffle (Okay, Mom was working and we were sleepin' and eatin' and chasing lizards), they gave us not one but TWO awards!

We just don't know what to say. We're speechless!

First, we gots the brillante award from TWO different kitty bloggers, which is a furry prestigious and distinctive award. We was nominated by Thomas, Phoebe and Trixie and The Taylor Cats! We preened and groomed for quite awhile after we heard that, making sure we looked our best, because we didn't want to let anyone down nows that we are famous kittehs.

Here is the brillante award, look how shiny it is!

Then, we gots another award just today, from the wunnerful kittehs Chica and Pumuckl, who are Egyptian cats in Germany and so maybe I guess they are...heee heee...wait for it...furriegn kittehs! Ha ha ha, we crack ourselves up. Anyways, These fantastic furries gave us an "I love your cats" award! Isn't that great?

Here it is over here, and it has cats hugging, like we do when we aren't whappin' each other!

Needless to say, we are furry proud to have won both of these awards, and we's going to put them on the sidebar.

If you haven't seen the cool Awards Shelf that Chica and Pumuckl's bean made for their awards, btw, you should go over there and check it out, because it is a furry neat idea.

We are allowed to nominate seven furriends for each of these awards, and that's a LOT of furriends. We tried counting and we had to go to three whole paws to figure out that would be fourteen kittehs! But then we also thought maybe we would nominate the same seven kittehs for BOTH awards, because all of our furriends really deserve both.

So, we is nominating:
Daisy, the Curly Cat, who is really just one cat but has Mr. Snail and Mr. Shrill and her pet rock, so she can still get the "I love your cats" award, right?

It's Whappin' Time!

I needs the Daddy. I am in a whappin' mood, and he always likes to play ruf (at least until I puts the bitey on his hand).

Lots of times, it's Cheddar who is the jumpy, racin' around, tail-on-fire kitteh.

Usually, I like to curl up and just, you know, show off my floofiness and stuff. Colby can make fun all he wants, cause you know whats?

Sometimes I get treats for doing stuff like that! Da beans say, "Awww, look at Cheddar, he's bein' so cute!"

And then I get treats. Course, they give them to Colby, too, cause he comes over and makes nice when they're treats around!

So, anyway, that's how it goes, usually.

But today I am in a bitey, whappin' mood!

I don't know why.

I fink I will go party wif some of my kitteh friends that know how to play.

Rainy Days = Naptime!

Rain, rain, rain. We is getting LOTS of rain and clouds from the big storm, Hanna.

It makes me, Colby, furry sleepy.

I was all stretched out and comfy on Mom's bed.

But then big ol' Cheddar came in and wanted to play.

I was just sleepin' and he bited me! Then he was whappin' at me and wouldn't let me alone.

He tried to eat Mom's laptop cord and chew the buttons off of her sweater.

She played wif him awhile, but she is tryin' to put our posts on the blog for us, and then she has her ovur blogs, so she had to get back to work.

But Cheddar kept puttin' the bitey on me and wouldn't let me rest, so Mom picked him up and put his floofy self by the window so's he could see the lizards and the rain.

Thank goodness!

Now I can nap again!

Whew.

Here are the randomly-picked winners of extra copies (generously donated by our sponsors!) of "My Buddy Butch" and "Rabbits: Gentle Hearts, Valiant Spirits".

First, here's how this worked, for those that are interested in this sort of thing:

Each donation was given numbers matching how many tickets were bought in the order in which they were donated, as so: Donor #1 donating $10.00 would get SIX raffle tickets (remember, buy five get one free!), So numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 were assigned to his/her name. Donor #2 donated 2.00 and had number 7 assigned to his/her name, etc. The numbers were then fed into the Random Integer Generator.

Remember, the big Prize Package is still up for grabs, and that winner will be chosen randomly by the Cheezits themselves, on video! They've been very good and kept to their promise not to accept bribes of cat toys and kitty treats, especially since they can't read anyway and have no clue what the raffle ticket numbers mean! ;)

Pet Rescue Raffle Update!

We have lots of Raffle news today!

First of all, Mom would like to thank all of you who have donated! And so do we! We really appreciate the time and the effort, not to matter the green papers you've given!

Next, Mom now has ALL the raffle prizes in the prize package in hand (some of them took a while to arrive. Delivery has been slower than usual, prob'ly because of all the storms round here lately!).

Mom also has Pet Rescue Raffle fliers printed and ready to go to the local pet shops, as of last Thursday. But she had to fly out of town and couldn't get them to the pet shops then! She was in Seattle until yesterday, visiting our cousin kitteh cats Mira and Rose and our woofie cousin Calvin.

Mom debated whether she should give up on the fliers so that the raffle would end on schedule, but she really thinks that extending the raffle a few more days instead may mean more beans will buy tickets for the big prize package, which means more green papers for the woofies and the kittehs and the buns and the hampsters and everyone!

So, the Pet Rescue Raffle will has been extended! The closing date for donations is now: Friday, September 5th. Everybody got that? So there is still time to donate and get chances to win!

Thankful Thursday

Today, I am furry thankful that the big storm named Fay is mostly ofur and the winds are not so loud.

I do not mind the water coming down out of the sky, because I am a smart kitteh and don't go outside (just on the porch to hunt lizards with my bruvver when I am feeling like a big brave mancat).

But I DON'T like the big winds outside! This is where I like to hide: on top of the washing machine or in my special laundry basket that Mom empties out just for me.

Mom always has LOTS of laundry to put away, cause the Dad and the beans make lots of dirty clotheses. (They should just get some nice floofy fur like I have to keep them warm. Colby doesn't even have nice floofy fur like me, but it is warm here in Florida so he does okay.) Mom says maybe they should all be nudists, because then there would be less laundry. Mom is not furry good at putting the laundry away all the time, but nobody's purrfect.

I am furry thankful that Colby and I have a safe, warm home when there are nasty storms outside. Not all kittehs are lucky enough to have furrever homes like we do!

Sneaky kitteh trains his bean

Mom heard once that raising teenage beans is like nailing jelly to a tree.

And that training kitties is like...um..well, it's just crazy talk! Beans don't really train kittehs to do what they want, right?

BUT dere's some videos dat the Temptations peoples put out, where the trainer THINKS he is teaching his kitteh to do stuff.

Really, of course, his kitteh owner is in control.

Guess how I knows dis? It's easy.

Just watch the videos and see who ends up with the Temptations in the ends!

When Mom started blogging on the Cat Blogosphere, it was really an act of love. She wanted to tell the world about us wonderful kittehs (naturally), and help rescue other shelter kitties like us.

But Mom says that one of the most wonderful and surprising things about writing The Cheezits for us is all the great people she has met. There are just so many caring beans out there!

And she wanted to tell you all about one of them today: Sharolyn, the resident artist and human over at Artsy Catsy.

Artsy Catsy, if you haven't been there, is the purrfect place to buy any cards and stationery, because so many of the products are inspired by kittehs!

The kitteh cards are our favorites. Besides being really beautiful (how could they be anything else, with kittehs for inspurration?), the cards are full of fun puns and funny captions.

For example, Sharolyn has cute graphics with kittehs climbing up walls and leaving pawprints behind (the inside caption reads, "My prints has come"), and a kitteh hanging desperately onto sumfin' (we know that feeling!) with, "Hang onto your pawsitive cattitude!" inside. Which is a furry good message for all of us kittehs and our beans when we have problems like feeling icky from eating too many bugs or sneezing and sniffling or not wanting to eat at all, like poor Felix right now!

One of the biggest greeting card companies in the US, Recycled Paper Greetings, even offered to buy Artsy Catsy's designs, but Sharolyn wanted to market them herself.

And you should be furry glad she does, because every time an Artsy Catsy design sells, Sharolyn donates 20% of the proceeds to places like The Rescue Farm and Cat Friends Helping Friends, in addition the first copy of each new design to CFHF for raffles and auctions to raise funds, with one per month every month for the rest of this year!

So please go get your bean and whap at them or give them the cute kitten face until they check out Artsy Catsy! Once they do, we know they'll want some of Sharolyn's cards to give to all their bean friends.

Oh boy! Mom is back, and we gots to go in her room and watch the world out of her window, and she gave us treats today for NO reason and we are gettin' lots of attenshun!

Mom was in a place called Callee For Nyah, to meet with other peoples that blog. They didn't have any kitties that blog there, but Mom did see this big funny lookin' woofer called "Raggs" there. Here's a pikshur of him.

We gots very big while Mom was gone. Cheddar has been a big mean old bully and been stealing my toys and I told Mom so. Cheddar says I've been getting him, too, but he lies like that sometimes.

Oh, Hai! It's me, Cheddar. We has been tagged to do a kitteh Meme about Quirks by the Zoolatry gang. It's fun to say, "quirks." If you say the word enuff, it stops making any sense!

We didn't think we had any quirks, and we meowed so to Mom, but then she started laffing and said, "Yes, you do, Cheezits!" and she helped us with our list of quirks.

We did want to say just one thing, though: we kittehs are very 'cited to find out dat we live near the Zoolatry kitty cats and their wonderful bean, Ann! So we's hopin' we can meet each other sometime.

The Cheezits Quirks

We likes to try to get the white ball on the Tellyvishun thingy when Dad watches golf. Dad must be really worried we will get it and make the Tellyvishun golfers look bad, because he tells us, "Get down!" and sometimes he squirts us and makes us all wet! We hates to get wet.
We likes to play fight and compete with each other until we get sleepy, and then we curl up with each other like best pals, or with Mom or one of the other Beans, to be cuddled and fussed over while we purr. Dat's the only time we like being petted.
We likes to jump in Mom's bathtub. Or her shower. Even when it's wet, and 'member we hates to get wet!
Cheddar likes to pose in pretty places and have his picture taken, cause he thinks he is cute (*snort*---dat's silly! Colby).
Colby has to try to taste everything to see if it has a flavor--Mom's drinks, pencils & pens, remote controls and game controllers, papers and books, even Mom's camera! (heehee---Cheddar)
We helps with chores. We help Mom and Dad do the laundry by jumping on the washing machine and snoopervising carefully to make sure they get everything right, and we helps the little beans unload the dishwasher by jumping up inside of it, and we helps Moms scoop out the litter box by sittin' right in the middle of it while she's scoopin'.

We thinks quirks are what makes us speshul, younique kittehs!

Mom's a little behind this week on account of one of the boy Beans had a Birfday party.

We didn't like it much 'cause there were lots of loud beans around in the Big Water Hole outside on the Screamed Porch, and they got themselves completely wet on purpose and then they splashed! A lot. Colby almost got his fur wet lots of times but I was smart and stayed inside because I already knowed outside is dangerous. Not that anything ever happened to Colby or me but it's very open out on the porch and there's lots of noise out there and of course the Big Water Hole is waiting to get us soaked wif water. Also, at the party there were these squeaky girls that wanted to hug us and called us "pretty kitty" even though we are obviously BOY kittehs!

One good thing is that they had lots of food at the Birfday party and sometimes beans dropped stuff. Also they had this stuff Mom called a What A Melon or sumfin' like that. It smelled funny and it was all round and green.

Woohoo! We Gets Yellow Treats!

I was not such a very good kitteh this weekend.

I bited Mom on the hand, and then I brokeded one of the keys on her laptop, and she never found it again.

She e-mailed Dad to let him know, because she was worried maybe I ated the key. And you know what Dad said?

He said, "Well, we could dissect him to find out." Dad thought that was funny. Now, does you think that was funny? At all?

No, I didn't think so.

And then Dad found out that Me and Cheddar peed in his suitcase so's he would remember us next time he went away.

And he was very unhappy with us, and didn't even make unfunny jokes for a while!

Which is why we were extra happy to get our yellow swappy gifts today from Mis Allie Cat! We wrote a little about it over on Swap N' Tails, but we gotses lots of stuff! And Mom had already forgiven us, so she let us play wif it all. AND she gots some neat stuff, too!

A Day for Remembering Heroes

Today is Memorial Day, and that means honoring our heroes, so here is my pic of me being a hero.

That was all done in fun, and Mommy liked givin' me a cape, but please remember that today is REALLY all about the real heroes who fight wars and stuff for us, and sometimes go on to the Rainbow Bridge because of it.

We always meow to find each other when it's time to sleep, and most of the time we sleep with our paws around each other. I know we're lucky, especially since some very nice and very good kittehs have gone to the Rainbow Bridge and can't be with their bruvvers and sisters any more. Saying Good-Bye to a Dear Friend and Beloved Pet

A friend of Mom's recently lost her beloved kitty and had to explain the situation to her five-year-old. Mom was very moved by her post because in addition to losing her first kitten to FIP before we came along, she grew up with cats and remembers how awful it was when the family's loving kitty died when Mom was just a girl.

We're Useful Kittehs..aren't we?

We were tagged by Miz Allie Cat for the "7 Useful Things" meme! This should be easy, of course we are very useful kitties. Um....okay, just give us time to think!

We keep the young bean company when his big bruvver is on the computer by playing wif his toy army men and tryin' to eat them like giant tigers.

We groom each other all the time, and only end up biting each other on the neck sometimes. This shows admirable restraint on our part.

We cheers the Dad bean up when he has a hard day at work by fallin' asleep in his lap and purrin' at him. (Or attacking his socky feet. Depends on what mood we're in after our hard day.)

We try to drink from the toilet AND the water bowl, so Mom saves water (good for the environment until someone closes the toilet lid!).

We attacks any bugs or lizards we see so the house is safe from intruders (see the picture? That's Cheddar in his 'watchful' pose!).

We let Mom know when our food bowl is empty by meowing loudly and trying to get our food down all by ourselves (haven't been quite so successful at that last part yet!).

We help Mom write posts on the laptop by coming over to stand on the keyboard and snoopervise.

We get to swap with Samantha and Tigger Swap n' Tails this month! Now we needs to get Mom to go shopping for something specially yellow. We would shop, but it would mean going in the big machine. *shudder*

So we will give her some ideas, and she can buy them.

We're also excited because we have some new treats to review. Mom got them and soon we will get to try them and review them on the site! She'll be putting up our reviews later this week.

We love treats almost as much as our newest toy, the catnip mouse,
which we have already torn into shreds. It had a little feather mouse tail,
but now we just has the feather left to play with! That was lots of fun to attack.

Cheddar still doesn't think anything can match the green and purple ball, though. It is his very favoritest toy! It really wears him out.

Mom found out about our secret stash, and now we is in trouble!

We are very smart, very sneaky cats. Of course you knows this. But Mom apparently didn't know just how smart we was!

See, we opened the cabinet door where the treats is kept, and we snuck out a whole bag of treats! And then we carried it back to our home.

(See, here's me, Colby, pointing to our two-story duplex kitty house.)

And then, we ate a hole in the treats bag! We nibbled and nibbled on the bottom until we could gets the treats out that way. We had a great thing going, until Mom caught on.

Our house is in where the laundry stuff is, and Mom was bending over, picking up some dirty laundry that had fallen on the floor, to wash it (which she hardly ever does, hee hee, just kidding, Mom! Uh oh...Mom is not in laughing mood).
Um..anyway, Mom looks in our house, and sees the incriminating half-nibbled bag of treats!

Mom says we are "Little Sneaks!" but she still loves us.

And now's the treats are gone from our house, and locked up in an Evil Ziplock Bag! Oh, the horror!

Hello Kitty Named Japan Tourism Ambassador!

Who can resist Hello Kitty?! We likes Hello Kitty because she makes the rest of us cats look good. She's all sweet and loveable and friendly.

Now Japan has made Hello Kitty an offishul Tourism Ambassador (whatever that is). All we know is, it sounds like a Big Important Title, and it went to a kitteh!

Mo from It's a Blog Eat Blog World challenged kittehs to doodle pics of themselves on Monday, and then donated 50 cents for every kitteh that doodled! Now, Mo has an auction going on to raise more funds! Can you help raise money for kittehs?

The youngest human boy just got something new. It's some kind of game, and now he is always playing with it.

It's really annoying, because of course it takes away from Kitten Time, when he should be paying attention to US.

So, today, we tried it out. The graphics are cool, but honestly? We couldn't quite get the hang of it.

Cheddar to the Rescue!

Today, I saved Colby's life! We'll maybe not, but he sure was panicking! He snuck in Mom's room to get on the bed again (he's good at sneaking), but Mom didn't know he was in there and when she came out, she closed the door!

And then...she left! She and Alex (that's the youngest boy human) went to the doctor's office because he hurt his ~~paw~~ hand. And they were gone for over an hour.

So Colby was meowing, and I went over to the door to help, and I tried to get it open by bumping against it and pushing on it, but I couldn't! Still, I stayed right there, meowing right back at Colby to let him know I was there.

Then, Mom came back, and she wondered why I was meowing. She picked me up, and Alex opened the door and let Colby out! Colby was so excited, he started running all over the house!

I think Mom felt bad, because we had CHICKEN for a snack! MMM. Nom Nom Nom. I love chicken!

Hmmm. Maybe I can get Colby to lock himself in again...

Mrroww! This is the bestest place to play. The floor crinkles like there's mice underneath it AND there's this cool tunnel to peek thru (in case your bruvver wants to pounce on you!).

There's a bunch of other openings, one on each side, so you can run in and out of the cave. I like to tip mine over and stick my head out of the top hole, like a groundhog.

Mom adds: At just $8.99 from Amazon.com, this Crinkle Cat Cave - Red is a real bargain! Both cats love it, and it easily folds up for storage (or when the cats flip it over!). Great buy.

A Day in the Life

Today, our human (everyone seems to call her "Mom", so I think that's what we'll call her, too!) let us play all around the Great Big Soft Space, which she calls a "bed". Cheddar and I chased each other, wrestled, balanced on the edge, jumped on the pillows and then fell asleep on the covers. There's so much room here! We can explore all over.

We had lots of good food today, including some little pieces of chicken. I never had chicken that wasn't out of a can before, and boy is it good! I actually begged for it. Cheddar had one piece, but I snuck an extra one when he wasn't looking and had TWO pieces! That's what he gets for sleeping all the time. I would rather be alert and watchful when I can. You never know when you might get an extra treat!

The youngest boy human threw the cool rattly mouse all over the place this evening. I just go crazy when he does that! He held the mouse over my head and swung it around. Cheddar likes to lie on his back and bat at it like an otter, but I'm like a bear! I get up on two legs and swipe at it. A few times, I even got the boy's hand. I'm really getting fast *preening*.

Then Cheddar and I raced each other to the mouse. Cheddar got to it first sometimes, but so did I, so we didn't fight over our toy.
